Last month to visit the exhibitions dedicated to Steve McCurry and Andy Warhol in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Both open to the public until May 4, 2025, they are part of the program of Go!2025&Friends, a review conceived and promoted by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with PromoTurismoFVG, on the occasion of Go!2025, with Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture.

Steve McCurry. Glimpses of the World, set up at the Salone degli Incanti in Trieste, is curated by Biba Giacchetti with the artistic direction of Gianni Mercurio and brings together more than 150 images, including some previously unpublished, that guide visitors on a journey through cultures, emotions and stories from every corner of the planet. The retrospective dedicated to the famous American photographer aims to explore the themes dearest to him, such as travel, cultures, children, and portraits. A narrative of life stories from India, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Africa, China, Cambodia and Japan. Alongside his most famous images such as the Afghan Girl, unpublished shots are also on display, such as the little Afghan boy “witnessing” child labor, the man in Togo with a face painted blue, the Nigerian woman with ritual scars, and the children running through the baobab forest in Madagascar. A section, on the other hand, is dedicated to spirituality with photographs never exhibited in Italy.
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last entry 6:30 p.m.); Saturday and Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (last entry 7:30 p.m.).

Andy Warhol. Beyond Borders, set up at the Palazzo Attems Petzenstein in Gorizia, is curated by Gianni Mercurio and, through 180 works, traces the artistic career and life of the great American artist, among the protagonists of Pop Art, as well as the main themes of his aesthetics, starting from his training as an illustrator in the field of advertising and fashion, two worlds that have profoundly influenced his career and his strategies as a pop artist. Divided into sections, the exhibition investigates themes such as music, fashion, and consumer society. His famous Campbell’s Soup, Flowers and Marilyn series, along with portraits of celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy, Mohammed Ali, Grace Kelly and even Superman and Mickey Mouse testify to how Warhol transformed mass culture into timeless icons. The exhibition presents the artist’s central role in making popular culture a legitimate and influential artistic theme, transforming iconic images and consumer objects into works of artistic value. Warhol tackled symbols of American society, such as the Campbell’s Soup label or the Coca-Cola logo, in fact elevating them to new art forms, destined to enter the public’s everyday life and art galleries.
The exhibition can be visited Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (ticket office closing at 6:30 p.m.); Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (ticket office closing at 7 p.m.).
