Large contemporary group exhibition at Miramare Castle on the deep connection between nature and human being

The Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle hosts a large group exhibition on the deep and complex connection between nature and human beings. Featuring more than fifty works by eighteen contemporary artists from different generations.

The Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle in Trieste hosts from December 6, 2024 to November 9, 2025 the large group exhibition Naturae. Environments of Contemporary Art, curated by Melania Rossi: a journey to discover the deep and complex link between nature and human beings. The exhibition is part of the contemporary Miramare exhibition, organized by MondoMostre and CoopCulture.

The event brings together more than fifty works by eighteen contemporary artists from different generations and geographic backgrounds, from the creations of masters such as Rebecca Horn, Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramovic and Mimmo Paladino, to site-specific installations by Pietro Ruffo and Jose Angelino, created especially for the exhibition. Unseen works by Serse Roma, special installations by Marta Roberti and visions between East and West by Liu Bolin complete the itinerary.

The exhibition addresses the theme of nature in multiple facets: the presence of man in the landscape, the relationship between body and nature, the flow of time, the beauty of natural forms and the order of physical laws. Through a continuous interaction between inner and outer worlds, the artists create a boundless space in which nature and culture merge, becoming mirrors of an artistic vision that deeply explores these connections. The exhibition itinerary, which winds through the stables and outdoor spaces, includes sculptural installations, video, painting, and photography, leading visitors inside personal artistic universes, authentic concluded horti in which to contemplate nature and art as inseparable elements. Nature becomes art and art is transformed into a natural element, inviting the public to reflect on the relationship between man and nature, shining a spotlight on the ways in which art can become a place of contemplation and introspection and become a tool for rediscovering the wonders of the natural world.

Conceived by Maximilian of Habsburg, the castle and its park embody a harmonious dialogue with the surrounding landscape. It welcomes visitors with the work TOWARDS YOU by Bianco-Valente, premiered during the Barcolana 2024.
