Iranian artist Shirin Neshat engages in a dialogue with the Ca' Granda Burial Ground in Milan.

A highly evocative artistic journey places Shirin Neshat's art in dialogue with Milan's Ca' Granda Sepulchre.

The Sepolcreto della Ca’ Granda in Milan, recently reopened to the public, meets the art of Iranian artist Shirin Neshat: from May 25 to September 15, 2018, an artistic itinerary will be set up featuring a video installation by Shirin Neshat and an evocative installation by Henry Timi.
An itinerary that will tell visitors about the return to light of this place and the people who experienced it.

The video installation"Pulse" will allow visitors to enter the private spaces of a woman’s room. Music from a radio will accompany the movement of the video camera as it enters the room: the angelic voice of Sussan Deyhim will be heard singing the verses of the 13th-century mystic poet Rumi about the imprisonment of human beings bound to earthly material life. Following this, the camera will move closer and closer to the video’s protagonist, leading visitors to touch the woman’s poignancy and participate in her solitary prayer.

Pulse is a work linked to the place and to the visitor through a play of references and correspondences: the radio represents the connection with the outside world, while the screen on which the work is projected brings light and vitality back to a place that has remained secret until now, making it converse with today’s man.
