From December 14, 2019 to January 26, 2020, the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice opens its doors to the exhibition Color Movement Illusion. Tornquist Costalonga Hsiao.
This exhibition is dedicated to three artists who have directed their research within programmed art, delving into the themes of movement, color and/or perspective illusion, each elaborating their own specific and independent language.
Jorrit Tornquist (Graz, 1938), one of the major contemporary players in the field of color in art and its urbanistic declination, conducts research among the perceptual mechanisms concerning color and its relationships with the emotional, and even sentimental, responses of the individual when faced with the chromatic universe, something that has led him to become the greatest contemporary color urbanist, always seeking to link industrial, civil, modern architecture to the dimension of the human/color relationship.
Franco Costalonga (Venice, 1933), one of the leaders of programmed art in the Veneto and Italy, who has recently left us, who made research into formal vitality, including through movement, and in this exhibition there are especially his historic motor works, his visionary choice.
Gilbert Hsiao (Easton, Pennsylvania, 1956), one of the leading contemporary American artists on the optical side, witnessed precise research in the field of illusion and formal fiction.
An exhibition, therefore, that not only offers the viewer three formidable interpretations of a programmed way of art, but will also be a great stimulus for the creativity of young artists.
A total of 45 works, about 15 per artist, will confront the theme of formal illusion and the response of the heart and brain to these aesthetic stimuli.
