From Sept. 10, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2021, the Museum of Antiquities in Turin is hosting the exhibition Incensum, dedicated to the Way of Incense. Through artifacts and works, visitors thus have the opportunity to understand how incense has been used over the centuries, from Mesopotamia to the Far East.
The objects on display come from the same collections of the city’s Royal Museums and other major museums, such as the Egyptian Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art in Turin and the Castiglioni Ethno-Archaeological Museum in Varese, as well as from private collections.
For the realization of the project, the museum headquarters collaborated with the National Museum of Mascate, capital of the Sultanate of Oman, which exclusively granted multimedia materials related to the history of incense and its extraction techniques.
