An exhibition dedicated to Giacomo Grosso, a Piedmontese painter between the 19th and 20th centuries who exhibited his works in national and international exhibitions, is open to the public until Jan. 28.
The exhibition is divided among four venues in the Turin area: the Pinacoteca dell’Accademia Albertina, the Accorsi-Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts, Palazzo Madama and the Municipal Palace of Cambiano.
Each of these venues offers a different itinerary in order to acquaint the public with various aspects of the artist: at the Accorsi-Ometto Museum, the exhibition itinerary is dedicated to the great portraits, particularly personalities of culture and ladies of the aristocracy and upper middle class. On display at Palazzo Madama in the Medieval Courtyard, inside Grosso’s “Alcove Frame,” is his Water Lily made in 1907.
At the Pinacoteca dell’Accademia Albertina, in addition to the self-portrait, landscapes, still lifes, and female nudes, including"The Nude" of 1896, are on display, while at the Municipal Palace of Cambiano there are youthful studies and works tracing Grosso’s artistic activity, including"The Pater Noster" of 1934.
"Giacomo Grosso. A Season Between Painting and the Academy" is curated by Angelo Mistrangelo and is promoted and organized by the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts and the Accorsi-Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts.
