From Sept. 25, 2019, to Feb. 23, 2020, Naples will offer for the first time a major retrospective dedicated to the celebrated Catalan artist Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma de Mallorca, 1983).
Curated by Robert Lubar Messeri, professor of art history at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, in collaboration with Francesca Villanti, Cor scientific director, Joan Miró. The Language of Signs at PAN Palazzo delle Arti Naples will present to the public eighty works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, collages and tapestries, from the Portuguese state-owned collection on deposit at the Serralves Foundation in Porto.
Through the exhibition, visitors will be able to understand the master’s artistic production from 1927 to 1986, as well as his characteristic style consisting of the depiction of objects that become visual signs.
The exhibition, promoted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Naples and organized by the Fondazione Serralves di Porto with Cor, Creare Organizzare Realizzare, promises to be the most important cultural event of the Neapolitan fall season.
