In Rome an exhibition on Jackson Pollock, at the Vittoriano

Starting Oct. 10, the Complesso del Vittoriano in Rome will host the exhibition Pollock and the New York School at theAla Brasini.

Produced and organized by Arthemisia and curated by Luca Beatrice, the exhibition will display 50 works by Jackson Pollock, the stars-and-stripes artist considered the greatest exponent of American abstractionism in the 1950s. Among the works will be the famous Number 27, a painting on canvas more than 10 feet long made iconic by the masterful balance between brushstrokes of black and the blending of lighter colors sprinkled with the dripping technique.

In addition to Pollock, the exhibition will also devote space to other protagonists of this artistic movement: Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline and many other representatives of the New York School burst into Rome with the charge that made them go down in history as the "Irascibles." The works on display come from the Whitney Museum in New York.ù

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (box office closes one hour earlier).
