The exhibition Il sorpasso. When Italy Raced, 1946-1961 moves to Parma. After being hosted at the Museum of Rome( newshere ), the exhibition opens from March 16 to May 5, 2019 in the spaces of the Palazzo del Governatore. The exhibition, organized byIstituto Luce-Cinecittà and promoted by theCultural Department of the City of Parma in collaboration with Csac - Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione of the University of Parma, is curated by Enrico Menduni and Gabriele D’Autilia.
“This exhibition was born in Parma,” said Councillor for Culture Michele Guerra, “and, after having been exhibited at the museum in Rome at Palazzo Braschi, it arrives in March at Palazzo del Governatore, as the result of a collaboration between the two cities and between the archives of Csac and Istituto Luce: in this happy moment for exhibitions in Parma, it is important to continue to increase new cultural relationships with other realities, in order to be able to develop ambitious projects like this one.”
The exhibition curators explained the genesis of their work, which also flows into the accompanying catalog, for Silvana Editoriale: “the exhibition deals with a period that offers two readings: that of a country full of wounds and that of its economic recovery. The exhibition recounts the Italy that, through the energy and will of its inhabitants, managed to be reborn and get back on its feet. An excellent example to take inspiration from in current events as well.”
“We are very pleased with the collaboration with Csac and the City of Parma because two heritages that are in some ways complementary to each other have been made to dialogue,” concluded Maria Gabriella Macchiarulo, project manager for Istituto Luce-Cinecittà.
