Opens today in Osimo, at Palazzo Campana, the exhibition Made in New York. Keith Haring and Paolo Buggiani. The True Origin of Street Art, open to the public until January 10, 2021.
Curated by Gianluca Marziani, the exhibition aims to celebrate U.S. artist Keith Haring, whose death marks 30 years this year. The exhibition aims not only to focus on the origins of Street art, which has been animating buildings and city streets for more than four decades, but also to draw a line between the culture of Graffitism and the broader dimension of Street art.
Keith Haring is one of the most significant protagonists of contemporary art, and twenty original works, created between 1981 and 1983, can be seen in the exhibition. By Paolo Buggiani (Castelfiorentino, 1933) more than twenty works are on display, accompanied by photographs illustrating his New York performances and installations.
Haring and Buggiani met in New York in the early 1980s: the Tuscan artist immediately realized Haring’s great talent and detached from the walls about fifty of his early works in chalk completed on the black posters that covered advertisements, the so-called Subway drawings.
