In Gallarate the exhibition Doppio Spazio, anthological exhibition of Paolo Masi

In Gallarate, until September 16, 2018, the exhibition 'Double Space,' a solo show by Paolo Masi, is on view.

Until September 16, 2018, the anthological exhibition of Paolo Masi (Florence, 1933) is underway at the MA*GA Museum in Gallarate (VA). “Double Space,” this is the title of the exhibition, presents to the public installations and environmental works made by the artist since the 1960s. The intent is to bring together the space of art and that of life, the individual with the needs of the community.
Three fundamental aspects of his work are highlighted: the vibration of color in dialogue with the history of painting and adherence to its actuality, the combinatorial freedom between lines, surfaces and the color-material relationship, and the dialectic with public space.

Exhibited works that will trace the significant steps of the artist’s career, decade after decade: from the painting object, to abstract painting, to art as a political act. Visible installations made with various materials: from floor frames to Plexiglas plates painted with geometric shapes and suspended in the void.
Curator Lorenzo Bruni wrote: “The path of the exhibition Double Space, on a par with a single organic work, was has been conceived as a privileged observatory from which to recognize in Masi’s works, on the one hand, the different tensions that have animated the Italian artistic debate and that have taken on the names of ’analytical’, ’concrete’, ’kinetic’ and ’programmed’ painting, and on the other hand, to observe the procedural solutions invented by the artist, paying attention to wanting to find an alternative to precisely those researches so as not to reduce the work to an ideological or merely aesthetic question, of rationalization or instinctuality.”

Also on display in the five VIP lounges at Milan Malpensa Airport, Terminal 1, are some historical and other more recent pictorial works that illustrate the research around the abstract-geometric matrix painting.
