Twenty years after its first edition, the 10th International Review of Engraving, called until 2015 The Art and the Press, returns to Cremona from September 22 to October 27, 2019. An invitation-only biennial, promoted by theAssociation Incisione Senza Confini, curated by Vladimiro Elvieri, assisted by an organizing committee.
The 10th Review 2019, organized by theEngraving Without Borders Association, which boasts the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the sponsorship, collaboration and support of the City of Cremona, the collaboration of theItalian Ex libris Association (AIE) and the contribution of private entities, will take place at the ’Santa Maria della Pietà’ Cultural Center in Cremona.
“An initial assessment of this biennial,” Elvieri explains in the text in the catalog, “leads us to affirm that the attempt to enhance the value of this art and its protagonists, has had a more than positive outcome, taking into account the participation of major international artists, the valuable collaboration of eminent personalities of art and culture including the philosopher of art Dino Formaggio and the president of the Triennial of’graphic art of Cracow, Witold Skulicz, and prestigious Italian and foreign institutions; of the growing response of the public and schoolchildren engaged in educational workshops; and finally, of the birth, by means of the works donated by the artists themselves, of the International Collection of Contemporary Engravings, ordered at the Prints Cabinet of the ’Ala Ponzone’ Civic Museum of Cremona, which constitutes, not only a remarkable artistic heritage, but also a valuable human and communicative testimony.”
Over the years, the Cremona Review “has been a meeting place between cultures and personal worldviews, a space where barriers and boundaries are overcome, a communicative landing place between artists and the public, who can experience, through the vision of the works, the emotions and magic of a thought that transcends the everyday and makes the invisible visible.”
As many as four exhibitions are set up in the same venue of Santa Maria della Pietà:
