Bologna's Palazzo Pallavicini reopens to the public on May 21, 2020, and extends its major exhibition dedicated to renowned photographer Robert Doisneau.

Palazzo Pallavicini in Bologna will reopen its doors to the publicfrom May 21, 2020, with its major exhibition dedicated to the famous photographer Robert Doisneau. The exhibition had opened on March 6 and was closed after only two days due to a health emergency. It will in fact be extended until July 21, 2020.

Entrance to Palazzo Pallavicini will be restricted and all the required security regulations will be enforced.

On display are 143 images made by Doisneau, including the famous kiss. Curated by theAtelier Robert Doisneau, the exhibition is organized by Pallavicini s.r.l. in collaboration with diChroma photography, and is the result of an ambitious 1986 project by the famous photographer’s daughters, Francine Deroudille and Annette Doisneau, who selected from 450,000 negatives the shots that tell the artist’s autobiographical story.

The suburbs of the Parisian suburbs, factories, small stores, lonely or rebellious children, the war on the side of the Resistance, the Parisian people at work or in celebration, glimpses into the French countryside, encounters with artists and celebrities of the time, the world of fashion and eccentric characters encountered in Parisian cafes-all themes he tackled throughout his career. Doisneau does not capture life as it is, but as he wants it to be. He gives special attention to children and street culture (in fact, his is called street photography): he captures moments of freedom and play, conveying a fascinating vision of human frailty.
