Imagined encounters: Lorenzo Lotto and the masters of the 16th century in Brescia exhibition

Lorenzo Lotto's colors, emotions and gestures to compose, from December 1, 2023 to April 7, 2024, an itinerary the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia in which five of Lotto's works are compared with works by the masters of the 16th century in Brescia.

The colors, emotions and gestures of Lorenzo Lotto to compose, from December 1, 2023 to April 7, 2024, a path of beauty at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia. The Brescia Musei Foundation is organizing the exhibition Lorenzo Lotto. Incontri immaginati (Imagined Encounters), an exhibition that, through the museum’s works and some extraordinary loans, intends to delve into the figure of one of the most fascinating protagonists of art history and, at the same time, to tell about those encounters of themes, manners, inspirations and talent that today, centuries later, continue to fascinate us, through proposed dialogues with some masterpieces from the Collection. Indeed, the masterpieces of the collection are re-read through imagined encounters between Lotto, Savoldo, Romanino and Moretto. That is, the masters, almost contemporaries, of sixteenth-century Brescia.

The path, within the rooms of the Pinacoteca, is created thanks to five works by the Venetian sixteenth-century genius, four from loans and one present in the Tosio Collection. The exhibition is also accompanied by an unpublished project curated by Fondazione Brescia Musei and Panini Comics, namely the adventure Minni, Goofy and the Mystery of Topoldo contained in issue 3549 of Mickey Mouse, which from Wednesday can be found in all newsstands and comic shops in Italy. Also, to celebrate the new exhibition project, today Friday, December 1, admission to the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery will be free.

The exhibition Lorenzo Lotto. Imagined Encounters was created in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d’Italia and through the patronage of the Lotto Cities Museum Network.
