CAP- Centro Arti Plastiche in Carrara will open tomorrow, July 7, at 7 p.m. the exhibition"Images Reinvented," which will end on Sept. 10, 2017.
Curated by Lucilla Meloni, the exhibition presents the theme of reinterpretation, reinvention of something that already exists, particularly images from cinema, art history and the world of communication.
Continuous quotations and double quotations from history, nature, and cinema that have occupied a central role incontemporary art since the 1960s and 1970s.
As the curator states, it is a"generational exhibition," since the artists in the exhibition belong to that generation that in the 1980s through a mixture of languages, such as photography, cinema, video, advertising, and magazines, followed a free way of making art.
The major themes covered in the exhibition are therefore mainly three: cinema, art history and media; themes proposed by the most varied works of fourteen international artists: Stefano Arienti, Gianfranco Baruchello, Mike Bidlo, Gea Casolaro, Sam Durant, Cyprien Gaillard, Debora Hirsch, Thorsten Kirchhoff, Myriam Laplante, Mauricio Lupini, Aleksandra Mir, Vik Muniz, Luis Felipe Ortega and Daniel Guzman.
“The Reinvented Images” is produced and organized by the Municipality of Carr ara as part of Carrara Marble Weeks 2017 and can be visited Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while Thursday through Sunday there will be evening openings from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
