How was Leonardo's Last Supper conceived? An exhibition at the Cenacolo Vinciano tells the story

From October 11, 2018 to January 13, 2019, the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano is hosting ten drawings from the Royal Collection to show how Leonardo's Last Supper came to be.

At the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano in Milan, the exhibition"Leonardo da Vinci. First Ideas for the Last Supper."

Ten drawings from the royal collections of Queen Elizabeth II, namely the Royal Collection, that were completed in preparation for one of Leonardo’s greatest masterpieces, The Last Supper, will be on display.
Seven of these are undoubtedly the work of the genius, one is attributed to Francesco Melzi, while the other two are traditionally attributed to Cesare da Sesto, but here they are assigned to the master.

Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the ten drawings mentioned in front of the Last Supper itself, in a comparison between the first idea and the finished masterpiece: from the first sketch to subsequent studies to the accurate rendering of matter and light.
In particular, the drawings presented in the exhibition could be divided into two groups: the first with more rapid pen sketches, where the artist studies the composition as a whole; the second with red or black pencil drawings that highlight details of faces, gestures.

The exhibition is organized by the Polo Museale Regionale della Lombardia and is included in the entrance ticket to the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano.
