On display for the first time in Italy will be the cartoon depicting Guernica from which the tapestry placed at the entrance to the U.N. Security Council hall originated.

"Guernica, an Icon of Peace": from Dec. 18, 2017 to Jan. 5, 2018, in the Sala Zuccari of Palazzo Giustiniani, visitors will be able to admire the cartoon made by Pablo Picasso for Guernica, from which thetapestry placed at the entrance to the UN Security Council hall was born.

The cartoon, owned by the Durrbach family, will be exhibited for the first time in Italy.

The exhibition is the result of a long research carried out by art historian Serena Baccaglini, which led her to the discovery of an exceptional collaboration between Pablo Picasso, Nelson Rockefeller and Jacqueline de la Baume Durrbach, who recreated Guernica through the art of tapestry.

The opening will be held on December 14 at 11 a.m.

Also from January 12 to February 28, 2018, the cartoon will be on display at the MAGI ’900 Museum in Pieve di Cento.

Hours: Dec. 18 to 22, Dec. 28 and 29, and Jan. 2 to 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
