The Museum of Landscape in Verbania is hosting from March 24 to September 30, 2018 the exhibition 'Green Harmonies. Landscapes from the Scapigliatura to the "Novecento"'.

The Museo del Paesaggio in Verbania is hosting, from March 24 to September 30, 2018, the exhibition Green Harmonies. Landscapes from the Scapigliatura to the "Novecento," curated by Elena Pontiggia and Lucia Molino and entirely dedicated to landscape painting developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. About fifty works by great artists such as Filippo De Pisis, Mosè Bianchi, Ottone Rosai, Emilio Gola, Daniele Ranzoni, Francesco Gnecchi, Lorenzo Gignous, Carlo Fornara and Umberto Lilloni (up to the artists of the Novecento group such as Arturo Tosi and Anselmo Bucci, and the 1950s with Ardengo Soffici), from the Collections of the Fondazione Cariplo, the Museo del Paesaggio in Verbania and private collections, make up the three sections on which an exhibition is organized that promises to be “a compelling and unmissable journey of discovery and beauty,” the organizers promise.

The first part, titled Scapigliatura, Divisionism, Naturalism will propose an itinerary among the works of the masters of the late 19th century, starting with Scapigliatura with Daniele Ranzoni (on display three works including a Study of a River Landscape) and arriving at the naturalism of Moses Bianchi (present with a Rustic Interior of 1889-1895) and the mountain landscapes of Carlo Cressini, from the early 20th century. The second section, Artists of the Novecento Italiano, focuses on works characterized by constructive strength and solidity, such as Ottone Rosai’s Landscape of 1922 or Mario Sironi’s The Lake, as well as works by the artists of the Novecento Italiano group (there will be three works by Arturo Tosi, and again Anselmo Bucci’s Il governo dei cavalli of 1916, and other interesting paintings). The last section, Beyond the Twentieth Century, analyzes works from the 1930s to the postwar period: so here is a Temporale by Filippo De Pisis, or a 1952 Evening View of the Knoll by Ardengo Soffici.

Visiting hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The entrance ticket costs 5 euros, 3 euros the reduced one, and allows entry to the Armonie Verdi exhibition and the Troubetzoky Plaster Collection. For residents of the province of Verbania, admission is free every first Sunday of the month, and at a reduced price on other dates. Proceeds will go to support the realization of projects of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Community Foundation in the area.
