An exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Boldini, entitled Giovanni Boldini. 50 Works on Paper.
A selection of 50 works on paper presented to visitors twenty years after the first exhibition dedicated to Boldini’s graphic production: some of these works are on public display for the first time and come from prestigious private collections.
From a young age the artist experimented with the technique of drawing, allowing him to analyze and reproduce all the details of the surrounding reality and to be free to experiment with new stylistic approaches and compositions. In fact, the Ferrarese master had a great expressive ability in the art of drawing andengraving. He drew everything that came before him and was also fascinated by architecture and furniture.
He indulged in the rush of the pencil by indulging his instincts, but not before he managed to capture the idea or make it coincide with a dynamic representation.
Significant for understanding his artistic vitality are the notes and sketches made, for example, on the back of a letter.
The exhibition is curated by Stefano Bosi and Enzo Savoia. Until January 7, 2019, three famous female portraits by the great master will be on display at Felsina Antiquaria at theOratorio delle Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vita in Bologna.
