The Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with theAssociation for the Social Promotion of Culture Art Commission and MAIIIM (Media Art III Millennium), presents an exhibition ofworks by Swiss artists from the heritage collections, testifying to the strong ties and fruitful opportunities for collaboration that Genoa and its museum have always had with the Swiss state, also evidenced by the two artist residencies, organized by the Cultural Conference of Swiss Cities (Cvc), which have been present in the city for many years. The exhibition is titled Presences of Swiss Art in the Collection of the Villa Croce Museum.
In the museum’s collections are in fact preserved works by some of the most significant Swiss artists, starting with the historical figures of Jean Arp, Camille Graeser and Richard Paul Lohse, founder of the Swiss concretist group Allianz in 1937, passing by the next generation, such as Megert, Glattfelder, Mattes to arrive at the contemporary research of De Luca, Michel and Repetto and with the grafting of an anomalous artist such as Legnani, Swiss by birth. A room in the space on the main floor is also dedicated to documenting, with various photographic and printed materials, the exhibitions and activities that the museum has carried out over the years that have focused on Swiss cultural and artistic protagonists. In the outdoor space of the park, on the southern side, one can admire Bucher’s large sculpture to which the sea and the new dam serve as a backdrop.
The exhibition at Villa Croce is being held on the occasion of the 6th edition of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art Le Latitudini dell’Arte, which this year sees the artistic exchange with Switzerland itself, and is the main anticipation of the exhibition that opens at the Galata Museo del Mare on August 1, 2024.
Artists in the exhibition: Hans Arp, André Bucher , Roberto de Luca, Hans Jörg Glattfelder, Camille Graese, Anselmo Legnani, Richard Paul Lohse, Rudolf Mattes, Christian Megert, Chantal Michel, Silvano Repetto.
