The Palazzo Ducale in Sassuolo presents Lawrence Beck ’s (New York, 1962) exhibition"Dialogue with Antiquity" to the public until September 2, 2018.
On display are eight large-scale photographs depicting Italian gardens; these are placed in dialogue with masterpieces of ancient art housed in the Palazzo Ducale.
Thus, visitors will see Palladio’s Villa Pisani in Stra (VE), Villa Bardini in Florence, Villa Reale in Marlia (LU), Villa Lante in Viterbo with its wonderful Mannerist garden, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo near Varese, Villa Sorra in Castelfranco Emilia, an example of the Emilian Baroque, and Palazzo Ducale in Sassuolo, a Baroque building that hosts the photographic exhibition.
Over the past five years Lawrence Beck has dedicated himself to the theme of gardens, immortalizing them in his large-scale photographs: here the relationship between man and nature is depicted, that is, landscapes within which are great masterpieces of Italian architecture.
The exhibition is curated by Martina Bagnoli.
