From March 23 to July 1, 2018, the exhibition “Novecento di carta. Drawings and Prints by Italian Masters” will be staged at the Sale Viscontee of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. Curated by Claudio Salsi and produced and organized with the publishing house Electa, the exhibition includes a nucleus of more than 200 masterpieces of 20th-century Italian graphic art, from the collections of the Gabinetto dei Disegni (Drawings Cabinet), the Civica Raccolta delle Stampe "Achille Bertarelli," the Art Library, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Civiche Raccolte Storiche (Historical Collections), the Museo del Novecento, and Casva, as well as more than forty examples from the collections of Intesa Sanpaolo.
The masterpieces on display are works by Italian painters, sculptors, and engravers from Alberto Martini to Carlo Carrà, Umberto Boccioni, Amedeo Modigliani, Mario Sironi, Giorgio De Chirico, Giorgio Morandi, Luigi Bartolini, Lucio Fontana, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Marino Marini, Fausto Melotti, Renato Guttuso, Alberto Burri, Enrico Baj, Federica Galli, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Alighiero Boetti, all arranged according to a chronological scan to recount artists and trends that spanned the short century.
On the occasion of the exhibition, the Castello Superintendency, in collaboration with theLibrary Area, is organizing, on May 12 and 13, 2018, Milano Graphic Art, two days of events dedicated to graphic art including exhibitions, demonstrations, educational workshops, meetings and guided tours at print shops and artist studios.
Admission Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed Monday).
The price of the ticket, which includes both the exhibition and a visit to Castello Sforzesco, is 10 € for the full ticket and 8 € for the reduced one.
