From life. Luca Lupi's landscapes and horizons on display in Sarzana

Running from Dec. 8, 2018, to Jan. 26, 2019, is the exhibition 'Dal vero,' a solo show by Luca Lupi at Cardelli & Fontana Gallery in Sarzana.

Cardelli & Fontana arte contemporanea gallery in Sarzana (La Spezia) is hosting, from Dec. 8, 2018 to Jan. 26, 2019, the exhibition Dal vero, a solo show by photographer Luca Lupi (Pontedera, 1970), winner in 2016 of the seventh edition of the Photomed Festival as well as other awards in the context of important art prizes (Premio COMBAT 2015, Premio Arte Laguna 2015, Premio Alinari 2010 and others). The exhibition presents Luca Lupi’s research on thehorizon, which for years has described a geography where the gaze composes the landscape along a continuous line of photographic shots. In his images, profiles of large metropolises, suburbs of the Italian province, coastlines, islands, industrial areas, forest margins alternate ideally in an uninterrupted theory.

Luca Lupi has gathered his photographs into two series: Finis terrae, when his point of view faces the sea, and Landscapes, when on the contrary he faces the mainland. In both cases the center of the work is placed at the center of this optical relationship, in the sense of the gaze that binds the human being to the landscape, urban, marine or rural, in an always legitimate acquisition of citizenship. Also presented in Sarzana are new shots and photos from a recent investigation that Luca Lupi has carried out by approaching the natural element: these are Correspondences, a series where fragments of the plant world are portrayed on a one-to-one scale.

The artist, presented in Sarzana with text by critic Pietro Gaglianò, has exhibited in various international contexts, from New York to Paris, from Tokyo to Barcelona, and in 2016 participated in an exhibition held at the Milan Triennale.

The exhibition Dal vero can be visited during Cardelli & Fontana’s opening hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free admission. For more information see the Cardelli & Fontana website.
