Kicking off on July 13, 2017 is the major multimedia exhibition celebrating the 750th anniversary of Giotto’s birth to be held at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice.
Magister Giotto is the first of three exhibitions that are annually dedicated to the great masters of Italian art: the next scheduled ones will be dedicated to Canova and Raphael.
The exhibition, which will end Nov. 5, will be a verbal, visual and musical journey through Giotto’s splendid works: the Assisi frescoes, the Scrovegni Chapel, the crucifixes, up to the presentation of the 1986 Giotto Mission, when the European Space Agency first intercepted Halley’s Comet that we find depicted in the Adoration of the Magi in the Scrovegni Chapel.
The audience will be accompanied by narration by Luca Zingaretti and musical dramatization by Paolo Fresu.
Magister Giotto has the artistic direction of Luca Mazzieri and the executive direction of Alessandra Costantini; it is curated by Alessandro Tomei and Giuliano Pisani in collaboration with a Scientific Committee formed by leading scholars of the artist.
It is also accompanied by the FMR catalog and limited edition fine volume published by UTET.
The exhibition dedicated to Giotto will be presented in spring 2018 in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan.
