The San Domenico Museums in Forli welcome from October 6, 2018 to January 6, 2019 a major exhibition project entitled"The Photography of Paolo Monti" dedicated to one of the most significant photographers of the 20th century, Paolo Monti (Novara, 1908 - Milan, 1982).
An extensive project that includes four exhibitions with the aim of recounting his artistic activity with more than 400 photographs.
Starting with the monographic exhibition"Paolo Monti - Photographs 1935-1982," which was held between 2016 and 2017 in Milan’s Castello Sforzesco and features about two hundred original shots dated between 1935 and 1982, visitors will see about 80 prints selected from the Photographic Fund on the 1971 census of Forlì’s historic center that make up the second exhibition, titled“Paolo Monti and the Census of Forlì’s Historic Center.”
On the other hand, the third exhibition,"Paolo Monti from the survey campaigns to the census of the Forlì valleys," presents about thirty original photographs and about sixty reproductions on the surveys carried out in 1969, to narrate the method used in the campaigns that were the basis for the establishment of the Cultural Heritage Institute.
The last exhibition"2018 Walls of Forlì: Photographic Readings by Luca Massari" consists of fifty images depicting urban details in a contemporary key; photographs dedicated to the walls of the city of Forlì taken by Luca Massari.
“Paolo Monti - Photographs 1935-1982” is curated by Silvia Paoli, from a project by Pierangelo Cavanna and Silvia Paoli; “Paolo Monti and the Census of the Historic Center of Forlì” is curated by Roberta Valtorta. “Paolo Monti from survey campaigns to the census of the Forlì valleys” is curated by Andrea Emiliani and Marina Foschi.
The exhibition project was realized thanks to the Municipality of Forlì - Department of Culture in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan - Civic Photographic Archive of Castello Sforzesco, Beic Foundation (European Library of Information and Culture), Milan, Emilia Romagna Region, Ibacn Emilia Romagna Region, National Park of Casentino Forests, Mount Falterona and Campigna, Melandri Study Center, Italia Nostra.
Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Mondays.
Tickets: Admission to the exhibition is included in the ticket to the Civic Museums (San Domenico Museums and Palazzo Romagnoli). Full 5 euros, reduced 3 euros.
