Forty featured artists in a major women-only exhibition at GNAM in 2021

In 2021, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome is organizing a women-only exhibition, Io dico Io - I say I: opening March 22 and running until June 27, curated by Cecilia Canziani, Lara Conte and Paola Ugolini.

Freely titled after Carla Lonzi, the project stems from women’s need to take the floor and speak up for themselves, to assert their subjectivity.

More than forty Italian women artists of different generations who have told their own authenticity in different historical and social contexts will be involved. A multiplicity of selves that creates a wide range of visions with consonances and dissonances.

The following are the artists in the exhibition: Carla Accardi, Pippa Bacca, Elisabetta Benassi, Rossella Biscotti, Irma Blank, Renata Boero, Monica Bonvicini, Benni Bosetto, Chiara Camoni, Ludovica Carbotta, Lisetta Carmi, Monica Carocci, Gea Casolaro, Daniela De Lorenzo, Maria Adele Del Vecchio, Federica Di Carlo, Rä di Martino, Bruna Esposito, Cleo Fariselli, Jacky Fleming, Linda Fregni Nagler, Silvia Giambrone, Laura Grisi, Ketty La Rocca, Beatrice Meoni, Marisa Merz, Sabrina Mezzaqui, Marzia Migliora, Maria Morganti, Liliana Moro, Alek O., Marinella Pirelli, Paola Pivi, Anna Raimondo, Carol Rama, Marta Roberti, Suzanne Santoro, Marinella Senatore, Ivana Spinelli, Alessandra Spranzi, Grazia Toderi, Tatiana Trouvé, Francesca Woodman.

Through a public program of talks, cinema, workshops and a call to action, Io dico Io - I say I will bring numerous figures from the cultural scene into dialogue around the issues that storytelling brings, with a view to creating common ground for discussion.

The exhibition will have the support of Dior.
