From November 21, 2024 to May 4, 2025, the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence hosts the exhibition Impressionists in Normandy. Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet..., curated by Alain Tapié, organized by Arthemisia in collaboration with Cristoforo, BRIDGECONSULTINGpro and PONTENOVE GMBH, and promoted under the patronage of the City of Florence. More than seventy works will be on display for the occasion to tell the story of the Impressionist movement and its ties to Normandy.
In this region of France, painters such as Monet, Renoir, Delacroix and Courbet depicted the landscape by capturing its most immediate aspects, from the variations of the sky to the reflection of water to its verdant valleys.
The exhibition at the Musée des Innocents focuses in particular on the Peindre en Normandie Collection, from which most of the masterpieces on view come, but works on loan from the Musée d’art moderne in Le Havre and private collections will also be on display. Works on display include Falesie a Dieppe (1834) by Delacroix, The Beach at Trouville (1865) by Courbet, Fécamp (1881) by Monet, and Sunset. Renoir’s View of Guernesey (1893), which testify to comparisons, exchanges, and collaborations among artists of the time.
