Five centuries of painting from Biella collections on display with works by Boldini, Carrà, Fontana

At the Museo del Territorio Biellese is running until March 10, 2019 the exhibition Art and Collecting. Five Centuries of Painting from Biella’s Collections, organized by theCity of Biella Culture Department with the contribution of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino and the collaboration of Banca Patrimoni Sella & C.

The exhibition, curated by Alessandra Montanera, will enrich the museum’s permanent collections: in fact, the selected works will be introduced of the current tour route, allowing the artwork and its context of reference to be enhanced.

Forty works from private collections in Biella encompassing a time span of five centuries, from sixteenth-century panels to the works of the major interpreters of the Italian twentieth century: Defendente Ferrari, Bernardino Lanino, Trophime Bigot, Antonio Fontanesi, Giovanni Segantini, Giuseppe Maffei, Domenico Morelli, Lorenzo Delleani, Rodolfo Morgari, Vittorio Avondo, Medardo Rosso, Antonio Mancini, Gernesto Bazzaro, Giovanni Boldini, Emilio Longoni, Paolo Troubetzkoy, Vittorio Cavalleri, Cesare Maggi, Ottone Rosai, Mario Sironi, Felice Casorati, Roger Bissière, Carlo Carrà, Gino Severini, Lucio Fontana.

Masterpieces of high artistic quality, known to the critics but long since no longer on public display, which allow us to understand the artistic, economic and social events of the Biella area.
The exhibition is also an opportunity to present the scientific results of diagnostic investigations conducted thanks to the collaboration with Banca Patrimoni Sella & C. on some works on display.
