From October 12, 2019 to January 12, 2020, Palazzo Pallavicini in Bologna is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Colombian artist Fernando Botero (Medellín, 1932). Titled simply Botero, the exhibition, curated by Francesca Bogliolo in collaboration with the artist himself, is promoted by Gruppo Pallavicini s.r.l. and consists of a nucleus of fifty works including some previously unpublished ones. In addition to the paintings, there are also drawings and color watercolors on canvas. Divided into seven sections, the exhibition presents themes dear to the artist and recounts his world of abundant volumes and enveloping colors.

Among the selected subjects appear characters related to bullfighting and the circus, still lifes, nudes, religious personalities, and individuals caught in their everyday life: the exhibition was imagined to account for Botero’s visual research, aimed at the affirmation of his characteristic language. The exhibition layout was designed with theAccademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and carried out in collaboration with the Biennium Specializing in Scenography and Exhibit and Museum Spaces set-up thanks to Professor Enrico Aceti, Professor Rosanna Fioravanti, Professor Michele Chiari and Dr. Erasmo Masetti together with students Alessandro Barbera, Larissa Candido Bergamaschi, Cecilia Giovine, Ester Grigoli, Sarah Menichini, Bianca Piacentini, Rossella Pisani, Elena Romagnani and Tatiana Sànchez Sandoval.
