Exhibition in Venice invites play and the floating realm of childhood

From July 1 to August 2023, the IN'EI Gallery in Venice presents the exhibition "The Floating Realm," which invites all visitors to return to the play, dreams and feelings of the floating realm of childhood.

As part of programming dedicated to the world ofarchitecture and design, the IN’EI Gallery in Venice opens, from July 1 to August 20, 2023, its second exhibition created in conjunction with the 18th edition of the Architecture Biennale: The Floating Realm, curated by architect and artist Satoshi Itasaka, is dedicated to the work ofart studio h220430 and invites all visitors to return to the play, dreams and feelings of the floating realm of childhood.

Silver Prize for the Lighting Products and Lighting Projects Design category of A Design Award, Satoshi Itasaka founded artstudio h220430 in Tokyo in 2010, with the intent to raise awareness and increase consciousness about the most pressing problems in contemporary society, from global environmental degradation to the growing wealth gap, by presenting design solutions that do not overlook social difficulties. Itasaka wants his message to be understood and inspire people to take action, and to do this he bases his projects on dialogue with society, integrating art, design and architecture.

The Floating Realm intends to be a symbolic representation of our liberation from all kinds of restrictions: the concept of levitation that forms the basis for the creation of the works proposes a return to the floating dimension that we experienced as children, making it re-emerge and be experienced in the present, with greater awareness. It wants to bring back ancestral feelings of joy, play and dream experienced during childhood: in fact, in the exhibition itinerary one can find Mushroom Lamp (part of the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), Balloon Mirror or The Birth Lamp.

“This exhibition was created with the intention of bringing back to life the ancestral feelings of joy, playfulness and dreams that, we hope, each of us experienced in our floating realm as a child,” Itasaka stresses.

During the same days, Satoshi Itasaka’s works are also featured in the exhibition Time Space Existence, a collateral event of the Biennale 2023 at Palazzo Bembo, which also includes a preview of the Natureverse pavilion for Expo 2025 in Osaka, and the Sustainable Park Kujira Project, for the construction of a new stadium promoting environmental sustainability, on Awaji Island (Japan).
