Although Time Passes, dedicated to the unforgettable singer-songwriter. The two exhibition spaces will be transformed into stage boxes for a visual and sensory journey, an immersive experience. After the success and record influxes of visitors, the journey that began a year ago in Bologna on the 10th anniversary of his death, passed through Rome and then Naples on the day of his 80th birthday, now comes to the Marche city.
The exhibition, promoted by the Lucio Dalla Foundation with Pesaro City Council, Pesaro Musei and Fondazione Pescheria, is organized and produced by C.O.R. Creare Organizzare Realizzare. The exhibition was curated by Alessandro Nicosia with the Lucio Dalla Foundation, special partner Lavoropiù, with the participation of Archivio Luce Cinecittà, under the patronage of RAI and the technical collaboration of SIAE, Società Italiana degli Autori e degli Editori, Universal Music Publishing Group and European Broker. Skira publisher catalog.
In the late 1980s, the Bolognese artist, during the period of his association with the Pesaro-based restorer Daniela Venturi, chose as his second home the ducal city of Urbino, where he had restored an ancient turret in the Montefeltro hills at Rancitella.
“We were at the tower and in the middle of the night, very high, I hear his unmistakable whistle,” says Andrea Faccani, president of the Lucio Dalla Foundation. "I get up, I run to him who looks at me, sitting on a bench in the garden, and says - Andrea , I’m out of ink, I need a pen, right away - he was writing Apriti cuore, a beautiful song from the refrain of which was born the title of the album Cambio, released in 1990 and representing a real artistic turning point. I remember that after a while he called me again to let me listen to it and told me that that was his first real autobiographical song, I remember my emotion and his joy." Other songs on the album Cambio, such as Le Rondini and 2009 (The Sw allows and the Stars), come to life in this context, but above all Attenti al lupo, the result of the suggestion triggered by the fear of being attacked by wolves during his usual walks in the woods.
It is no easy feat to tell fifty years of history in an exhibition. It all stems from a long search for materials, many of which are on display for the first time, documenting the entire human and artistic journey of one of Italy’s and the world’s most beloved artists. Lucio Dalla marked the history of Italian music, reinvented jazz, pop, opera to his liking, skillfully mixing them with absolute freedom. He told the stories of the “last” with Piazza Grande, of those in love and deluded with Cara. A singer of life and sounds who with biting irony and poetic gaze won everyone’s heart. He was not only a musician but also an actor, writer, theater director, sports lover and passionate about engines, dance, opera, painting, literature. He also had an art gallery.
Through documents, photos, record covers, videos, objects, stage clothes, posters of the films in which he participated, posters, the rich collection of hats and caps, the paintings, many of which were made by his artist friends, and the testimonies of those who loved him, it will be possible to discover Lucio’s intimacy and experience the power of his soul and music.
The exhibition is divided into more than ten sections. Hosted at Palazzo Mosca - Musei Civici are: Dalla presents himself, The Clarinet, Family-Childhood-Friendships, Universe Dalla, The Lucio Dalla Museum. While at the Pescheria Visual Arts Center we find: Cinema, Television, Theater, Dalla and Pesaro, His Music as well as thirty shots by Maurizio Viola that best express his soul. The unseen section Dalla and Pesaro is dedicated to the relationship between the singer-songwriter and the Marche city, a place that allowed him to discover and produce singer-songwriter Stefano Ligi.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog published by Skira that includes history, images and also a long list of testimonials that help to understand in depth the eclectic character of the singer-songwriter.
