Escher at the Blue Palace in Pisa


Palazzo Blu in Pisa hosts an exhibition dedicated to the Dutch artist Escher until Jan. 28, 2018. Artist of visual illusions and impossible architectures.

The exhibition"Escher. Beyond the Possible" dedicated to Maurits Cornelis Escher, the Dutch artist who lovedvisual illusion and created geometric compositions and impossible architecture.

More than one hundred works tracing Escher’s artistic activity, with a special focus on his sojourns in Italy, and evidence from previous centuries, such as marble fragments with cosmatesque decorations, wooden inlays with geometric depictions and G.B. Piranesi’s engravings with fantastic architectures and suggestive perspectives.



In the exhibition itinerary divided into nine sections, including Faces, Animals, Objects and Reflections, Landscapes, and Fantastic Architectures, visitors get to know and understand the hand and mind of this evocative artist.

The exhibition is curated by Stefano Zuffi and is produced by MondoMostre and Fondazione Palazzo Blu in collaboration with Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, Arthemisia and M.C.Escher Foundation.
