Spazio Faro in Rome is hosting for the first time in Italy the solo exhibition of Finnish artist Tuomas Korkalo (Rovaniemi, 1978), entitled Endless Visions.
Organized under the patronage of theEmbassy of Finland in Rome and with the support of theArts Promotion Centre Finland, National Council for the Visual Arts, the exhibition will be open to the public from May 24 to June 12, 2019.
Influenced by the Russian and Bauhaus avant-garde movements of the early 20th century, the artist reworks their aesthetics through a light style in whichwatercolor becomes a unicum with acrylics andsumi ink. The spirit is that of theLast Futurist Exhibition 0.10 organized by Marinetti’s followers in 1915 in Petrograd. From here, almost a century later, Korkalo starts again, with his reflections on the properties of color and light in space and on the mathematical laws that, applied to art, give order to chaos.
The purity and symmetry of the geometric forms featured in the canvases on display communicates to the viewer an immediate sense of peace and harmony.
“For me, abstract painting is a game whose goal is to reveal the all-encompassing dynamic energy of the cosmos,” declares the artist.
