In 2024 the Municipality of Empoli will celebrate Masolino da Panicale (Panicale, 1383 - Florence, 1440/1447) with an exhibition. In fact, six hundred years will have passed since the creation of the cycle of frescoes with Stories of the True Cross in the church of Santo Stefano degli Agostiniani and the Vir dolorum, now preserved in the Museo della Collegiata in Empoli. Curated by Andrea De Marchi, Silvia De Luca and Francesco Suppa, the exhibition aims to reconstruct the cultural context in which Masolino moved and the original characters of his personality. To this end, it is intended to bring together precisely in Empoli as many of Masolino’s works as possible, so as to help fully understand them. Moreover, the exhibition project is part of a real season of research that has affected Empoli, its monuments and its territory in recent years and that has involved new openings and acquisitions on its historical and artistic heritage. The novelties that have emerged from this series of studies form the backbone of the exhibition, which will be housed in the Pinacoteca della Collegiata di Sant’Andrea and for the most part inside Santo Stefano from April 6 to July 7, 2024.

There is time until Sunday, December 31, 2023 to respond to the notice published by the City of Empoli for the public selection of interested parties. The notice is addressed to all private citizens, entities, associations, advertising agencies or broadcasting concessionaires, and intermediary agencies, who intend to bring their contribution to the success of the exhibition. The use of sponsorship is to be understood as an effective means of support to pursue institutional purposes and will make it possible to improve the quality of the proposed events and support them financially, in whole or in part, with a benefit for the municipal budget as well.
