Galleria Poggiali in Pietrasanta opens to the public from Aug. 31 to Oct. 6, 2019 Artificial Landscapes, a solo exhibition by the duo Goldschmied & Chiari (Sara Goldschmied, Arzignano 1975 - Eleonora Chiari, Rome 1971), curated by Gaspare Luigi Marcone.
New works focusing on nature were specially created for the exhibition. After the recent exhibition Eclisse at the Museo Novecento in Florence, which ran from March to May 2019, the artists present for the first time at Galleria Poggiali new circular formats that reflect on natural phenomena such as eclipses, sunrises or sunsets. At the same time, at the gallery’s other location in the Ex-Fonderia d’arte Luigi Tommasi, Via Marconi 48, other examples of these works will be in dialogue with large mirrored surfaces in green hues.
To create the Untitled Views cycle, which began in 2014, the artists shot colored smokescreens by capturing some symphonies of smoke and colors with photography; selected for harmony, color and texture), they were printed and finally embedded on glass and mirror. The reflective surface invades the space and the viewer, who becomes an active part of these “visions/views.” In some cases the reflective surface emerges, direct and bright, while in other cases, by changing the point of observation, the surfaces become similar to pastels or dense and colorful paintings.
Significant themes addressed by the artists are the critical relationship with history and nature or the polarity between reality and fiction.
The two artists founded the duo goldiechiari in 2001 and have been working under the name Goldschmied & Chiari in Milan since 2014.
