From March 30 to June 28, 2019, Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence offers visitors the retrospective Heroes - Bowie by Sukita, entirely dedicated to Japanese master photographer Masayoshi Sukita ’s shots of pop culture icon David Bowie.
Sixty large-formatphotographs, some exhibited as national premieres, showcasing the special friendship that lasted more than four decades between the two celebrated figures. Not only the iconic shots from the Heroes album cover, but also historical images from Sukita’s personal archive that tell the story of their friendship.
With this exhibition, Palazzo Medici Riccardi pays homage to the White Duke, among the most significant artists in contemporary culture who has been able to elevate rock music to an art form.
With the same ticket, visitors can visit the exhibition and the 15th-century palace.
Side events, including acoustic concerts by musicians in the palace’s courtyard, are also planned during the three-month exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by ONO Arte Contemporanea and is presented by OEO Florence and Le Nozze di Figaro.
