The beautiful painting depicting St. Agatha by Correggio, after being restored and restudied, will be presented to the public at an exhibition to be held at Palazzetto Baviera in Senigallia from March 15 to September 2, 2018.
According to Nobel laureate Dario Fo, the figure depicted is a portrait of Jeronima, the artist’s wife.
The painting came to Senigallia in the late 19th century as a gift from an Englishman to doctor Angelo Zotti, who had saved his life, which is why the work is also called the Saint Agatha of Senigallia.
The exhibition is curated by Giuseppe Adani.
Hours: March 16 to June 2 from Thursday to Sunday and on holidays and pre-holidays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
