Coming to the Modena Visual Arts Foundation the first major solo exhibition of Jon Rafman

The Modena Visual Arts Foundation presents the first major solo exhibition of Jon Rafman (Montreal, 1981) in an Italian institution dedicated to contemporary art to be held from Sept. 14, 2018 to Feb. 24, 2019.

"The Mental Traveler," the title of the exhibition, will display a selection of multimedia installations presented in Italy for the first time made from 2011 to the present. Works, including photographs, videos, sculptures and installations, that blur the boundaries between the material and the virtual, between flesh-and-blood bodies and their technological replicas.

At the entrance to the Palazzina dei Giardini will be one of Rafman’s most recent works, Legendary Reality (2017), in which the artist will take visitors on a journey into inner space. An anonymous narrator will narrate a journey through a landscape with sci-fi features, similar to what one sees from a computer screen.

The exhibition is curated by Diana Baldon and presented by Fondazione Fotografia Modena in collaboration with the Galleria Civica di Modena.

Tickets: Full 6 euros, reduced 4 euros. Free for under 18 and over 65, disabled with accompanying person, classes of all levels accredited and accompanied by the respective teacher, certified students of Fondazione Fotografia’s school of advanced training, accredited journalists or with valid card, AMACI cardholders, ICOM cardholders, the first accompanying person of a child under 10. Free admission Sept. 14-16, 2018 on the occasion of festivalfilosophy, Oct. 13, 2018 on the occasion of the Day of the Contemporary.
From September 2018 to February 2019 it is possible to visit with the cumulative ticket all exhibitions organized by Fondazione Modena Arti Visive.
