From January 18 to May 13, 2018 CAMERA - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, in Turin, will host an exhibition dedicated to Carlo Mollino.
More than 500 images from thearchives of the Politecnico di Torino will illustrate the entire photographic production of the artist-architect.
"The Magic Eye of Carlo Mollino. Photographs 1934-1973" will highlight the profound relationship between Mollino and photography: he used it as a means of expression and as a tool for documenting and archiving his work.
The first section of the exhibition will be devoted to the theme of living: buildings, domestic objects, portraits in famous interiors and snapshots taken during his travels as annotations of architecture.
The next section will be devoted to the surrealist inspirations present in part of Mollino’s photographic production: shop windows, mirrors, photomontages, photographs of photographs.
The third section will focus on speed, movement and dynamics, particularly the theme of flight.
This will be followed by more than 180 photographs devoted to the theme of the body and posing.
It will also feature letters, manuscripts, postcards and other documents belonging to him.
The exhibition is curated by Francesco Zanot.
