Burano and its painters. The light of the most island in the Venetian lagoon.

Through Jan. 8, 2020, the Burano Lace Museum presents works by painters who depicted the island as an idyllic place.

On view until January 8, 2020, at the Burano Lace Museum is the exhibition Pittura di luce. Burano and its Painters, curated by Chiara Squarcina and Elisabetta Barisoni.

During the 20th century, Burano, the most island in the Venetian lagoon, inspired the works of artists such as Gino Rossi, Umberto Moggioli and Pio Semeghini, characterized by a particular light.

Through works from the collection of the Ca’ Pesaro Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, the exhibition aims to focus attention on a production that after World War II led Burano and its Painting Prize to the center of a lively debate on modern art, particularly when from the first decade of the twentieth century the island became a place connected to the Ca’ Pesaro avant-garde movement.

Thanks to these painters, Burano became an idyllic place where people wanted to paint en plein air, live, nature, but also a place that reconciledintimate reflection.
