Another photography exhibition will be welcomed to the seven floors of the Tower of the Castle of the Bishops of Luni in Castelnuovo Magra: this time it will be dedicated to Bruce Chatwin, the English writer and traveler who published his first book In Patagonia forty years ago.
In addition to being a writer, he was a great photographer, and the shots on display in the exhibition"Bruce Chatwin...the journey continues" document his strong passion for photography, capturing details that would have gone unnoticed by anyone else.
Visitors will see a selection of images depicting various continents, including of course some famous photos of Patagonia.
He took more than three thousand photographs on his travels, and it was his wife Elizabeth who also made available black-and-white images from the archives kept at Oxford University; the exhibition also features several unpublished ones, including those taken on the trip with his wife to Yunnan.
Also on display will be his personal backpack that accompanied him on all his adventures, made to his design by an English saddle maker.
The exhibition is curated by theChatwin Cultural Association and Maurizio Garofalo, and the layout by Studio Xlab architecture.
Not to be missed is the meeting with his wife Elizabeth Chatwin, who will narrate her husband’s travels and passions on Tuesday, September 5, at 5:30 p.m.
“Bruce Chatwin. the journey continues” will be open from July 8 to Sept. 3 daily (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5 to 11 p.m., and from Sept. 5 to Oct. 8 daily (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
