From May 27 to June 24, 2018, the Old Cathedral of Brescia will host the exhibition"In the Light. Valentino Vago in the Cathedral of Brescia," curated by Paolo Sacchini and Alfredo Scaratti and realized in collaboration with the Paul VI Collection - contemporary art and theValentino Vago Archive.
A few months after the artist’s death, the exhibition intends to pay homage to one of the most sensitive interpreters ofsacred art in the contemporary age.
Works from the period between 1981 and 2017 will be on display: an exhibition itinerary to narrate the theme of the sacred dear to the artist, from narrative to abstraction, where light and color are predominant.
Paolo Sacchini, one of the curators of the exhibition, said:"Valentino Vago has always managed to ’evoke’ the sphere of the metaphysical - without giving in to the temptation of its impossible ’description’ - through a painting at once delicate and intense, literally drenched in light and color and capable of transporting the viewer to a supersensible and indeed’totally other’dimension through the extraordinary sweetness of his hues and his own pictorial ductus that always appears very controlled in its outcomes despite the happy spontaneity of his hand."
Hours: Daily from 9 a.m. to noon and 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Free admission
