Borghese Gallery hosts first exhibition dedicated to Dosso Dossi's Aeneas frieze

From April 4 to June 11, 2023, the Borghese Gallery presents a never-before-seen exhibition dedicated to the Aeneas frieze that Dosso Dossi created between 1518 and 1520 for the Alabaster Camerino of Duke Alfonso I d'Este in Ferrara.

The Borghese Gallery presents from April 4 to June 11, 2023 the previously unseen exhibition Dosso Dossi. The Frieze of Aeneas, curated by Marina Minozzi. This is the first exhibition dedicated to the great Ferrarese artist’s pictorial cycle.

On this occasion, five of the ten canvases that made up the frieze created by Dosso Dossi between 1518 and 1520 for the Alabaster Camerino of Duke Alfonso I d’Este in Ferrara are brought together for the first time in a single venue. The operation, also prompted by enthusiasm for the recent reappearance of some of these canvases, is the result of an ambitious collaboration with the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

With this exhibition, the Galleria Borghese brings to fruition its research on landscape painting and the relationship between Art and Nature with Dosso Dossi.
