The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna pays tribute to Luciano De Vita (Ancona, 1929 - Bologna, 1922) by dedicating him an exhibition open from January 22 to February 23, 2020, simply titled Luciano De Vita.
The exhibition, promoted by theAcademy of Fine Arts of Bologna and curated by Silvia Evangelisti, aims to bring together in one place De Vita’s diverse aptitudes, testifying to his extraordinary creative power in painting, sculpture, set design and, of course, engraving, the medium of which the Marche-born artist was one of the greatest interpreters of the second half of the 20th century in Italy. On display will be some 20 paintings, some of them large (and a few drawings), several sculptures, a body of engravings both on display cases and hanging, the four artist’s books produced during his lifetime (for Roberto Roversi’s Palmaverde bookstore) and rich materials for the theater such as costumes, sketches, maquettes.
A catalog with an introduction by Enrico Fornaroli and essays by Silvia Evangelisti, Pietro Lenzini, Cataldo Serafini, Maria Agata Amato and Anna Maria Stanghellini is published with the exhibition. The exhibition has free admission.
