Bologna hosts an exhibition dedicated to René Paresce and Italians in Paris

Until February 25, 2018, the Museum and Oratory of Santa Maria della Vita in Bologna will host an exhibition dedicated to René Paresce.

On December 7, the exhibition"René Paresce .Italians in Paris. Campigli, de Chirico, de Pisis, Savinio, Severini, Tozzi," which will close on February 25, 2018.

An exponent of the Italiens de Paris movement, physicist, painter and intellectual, René Paresce (1886-1937) met Modigliani and Picasso in Paris, frequented the artists of the École de Paris, and lived through the artistic events of the city in those years.

On display are 73 works that present the history of Les Italiens in the Paris art milieu: through philological and art historical research conducted over the past 15 years, the group’s exhibition history has been reconstructed.

Visitors will be able to admire a selection of paintings and drawings by René Paresce as well as works by de Chirico, de Pisis, Severini, Campigli, Tozzi, and Savinio from important public collections, such as the Fondazione Boschi Di Stefano - Museo del Novecento in Milan and the Mart in Rovereto.

The analyses carried out on the paintings have made possible a greater understanding of the techniques of the various artists, the materials used and the methodological choices.

The exhibition review is curated by Rachele Ferrario in collaboration with a Scientific Committee composed of Genus Bononiae President Fabio Roversi Monaco, Venetian Civic Museums Director Gabriella Belli, Mart of Rovereto Director Gianfranco Maraniello, art historian Enrico Crispolti and Francesco Paresce.
