From Jan. 26 to March 24, Villa delle Rose(Bologna) is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Goran Trbuljak (Varazdin, 1948), a Croatian artist living in Zagreb who has been active since the late 1960s in the field of conceptual art and the so-called New Art Practice, has dedicated from the beginning to the search for alternative means of production and representation of the work of art, questioning and radically challenging the art system, museum practices and market dynamics.
The exhibition, which arrives from the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève in a heavily revised version for the spaces of Villa delle Rose, features works from the past 50 years, including paintings, frottage, monochromes, photographs, films, books and documentation of Trbuljak’s performative actions. His works denote a special ability to touch our inner chords thanks to an ironic streak that makes him different from the many other artists who, between the 1960s and 1970s, worked on the dematerialization of the work of art with practices related to speech and performance.
Goran Trbuljak. Before and After Retrospective, this is the title of the exhibition, is curated by Lorenzo Balbi and Andrea Bellini and supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna. The exhibition is part of the schedule of ART CITY Bologna, the institutional program of exhibitions, events and special initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Bologna in collaboration with BolognaFiere on the occasion of Arte Fiera and with P420.
