Bologna dedicates an exhibition to its porticos, a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage Site

Palazzo d'Accursio dedicates an exhibition to Bologna's famous porticos, a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status.

From September 12 to 27, 2020, the Sala d’Ercole of the Palazzo d’Accursio in Bologna will dedicate an exhibition to the city’s porticos: it will be an exhibition where about fifty painted terracotta bas-reliefs made by sculptor Ivan Dimitrov will be presented. The artist has interpreted the intimate, hidden and undiscovered Bologna, made up of unexpected framing, plays of light and shadow, through the characteristic three-dimensional effect technique. The works will take visitors to a magical Bologna, extolled through time by the most famous personalities, travelers, artists and poets.

The exhibition is being held in conjunction with the UNESCO Heritage nomination of the famous porticos.
The exhibition takes place in stages: after the exhibition at Palazzo d’Accursio, it will move, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 29, to the “E.Possati” Museum Hall of the Baraccano Complex.
The event, organized by the Santo Stefano District of Bologna, under the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region, and curated by the Studio Santo Stefano art gallery, is part of the cultural initiatives included in the Management Plan to support the candidacy of Bologna’s arcades to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

“The enhancement of a distinctive characteristic feature of the city such as the ”porticos,“ through the gaze of an artist who has chosen Bologna and its views as a source of inspiration, will be one of the fundamental initiatives for the restart of culture and tourism,” said Rosa Maria Amorevole, President of the Santo Stefano District.

Hours: Palazzo d’Accursio, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Closed Mondays.
Baraccano Complex, weekdays from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 3 to 6 pm, holidays from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 3 to 7 pm.

Free entrance to the exhibition.
