From February 2 to 24, 2019, the Palazzo Ducale in Massa will host the works of Giuseppe Veneziano (Mazzarino, 1971) in an exhibition curated by Ivan Quaroni.
The exhibition is titled Storytelling, a statement of a narrative about the artist’s characteristic works. “His stories are always open to multiple interpretations. Through the immediate recognizability of a subject that plays on the antinomy reality/fiction, combining sacred and profane, historical figures and cartoon characters, cultured quotation and consumerist imagery typical of Pop Art, Veneziano provokes the viewer by making use of subtle irony to induce a serious reflection on the society in which we live,” the curator emphasizes.
The exhibition will feature about thirty acrylic on canvas works of various formats from private collections. Present will be some paintings that have never been exhibited in Italy and works from the last ten years of his activity.
His creations are on the border between reality and fiction; stories from the past, present and future are illustrated through pop figuration and learned quotation.
The exhibition is sponsored by the City of Massa and will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Free admission.
