Banksy, all of the artist's most famous works are in Marche for From street to museum exhibition

Palazzo Campana in Osimo is hosting from March 29 to July 7, 2019 an exhibition dedicated to the famous street artist Banksy

At Palazzo Campana in Osimo, the exhibition From street to the Museum dedicated to the famous street artist Banksy will be held from March 29 to July 7, 2019. Visitors will be able to admire a rich selection with the best thirty images to date: original works from private collections, silkscreens that the street artist himself has made that reproduce some of his best-known and provocative creations.

Banksy’s first works appeared in the early 1990s on the streets of Bristol, which was experiencing a season of intense artistic ferment. In his works Banksy, provocative, ironic, deals with war, pollution, repression, homogenization and manipulation in Western society, using a powerful evocative impact.
His identity still remains shrouded in mystery, and speculation about who is behind the signature of those graffiti pieces, which have appeared on walls around the world, has fueled the Banksy myth.

Gianluca Marziani, curator of the exhibition, said, “Banksy with his art best represents the spirit of our times; with his iconographic production he communicates in a universal way the great emergencies of today’s society and invites the viewer to reflect on them. An art therefore direct and with great visual impact, which has been able to involve the young audience, the true target of the Osimo exhibition.”

Stefano Antonelli, the other curator of the exhibition, added, "The thirty works on display in this exhibition are key images to understand the artist; they explain why Banksy does these things, the principles behind it, his political key, his reading of the social, his cultural view of the system.

This review aims to analyze the street artist ’s original images within a comprehensive semantic framework that vehicles their origins, references and relationships. The images will be accompanied by an infographic on the artist’s chronology, rich historical fact sheets on the works with photographic documentation, wall texts with his quotes from books, from the original black books, posters of his exhibitions, counterfeit bills , I am an imbecile balloons used in Dismaland and some videos.

Osimo Mayor Simone Pugnaloni says he is satisfied with the fourth exhibition set up in just five years in office: From Rubens to Maratta (2013), Lotto, Artemisia, Guercino. The Secret Rooms of Vittorio Sgarbi (2016), Sibillini Masterpieces. The Art of the Places Wounded by the Earthquake (2017), Giorgio De Chirico and Neometaphysics (2018), set up with the intention of offering the public a “strictly” contemporary art exhibition and to involve the younger generation more. He also said, “Osimo with these exhibitions has been able to further emphasize its strong cultural vocation: a dynamic city, admired for its beauty and always ready to set up initiatives capable of arousing interest. The Banksy exhibition will give a further touch of internationality to our rich tourist and cultural offer.”

Culture councillor and deputy mayor Mauro Pellegrini also announced that for every ticket sold, 50 cents will be donated to the Lega del Filo d’Oro, to further promote what it does in support of people with physical and mental problems.

The exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Osimo, in collaboration with the MetaMorfosi Association, the Azienda Speciale A.S.S.O., the Marche Region, the Campana Institute, the Don Carlo Grillantini Foundation, the Marche Chamber of Commerce and Confcommercio Marche Centrali.
