Bacon, Freud, the School of London. Works from the Tate is the new exhibition that will be on view from September 26, 2019 to February 23, 2020 at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome.
For thefirst time in Italy an exhibition is dedicated to two great masters of painting: Francis Bacon (Dublin, 1909 - Madrid, 1992) and Lucian Freud (Berlin,1922 - London, 2011).
Curated by Elena Crippa, Curator of Modern and Contemporary British Art, Tate, the exhibition will present British art from 1945 to 2004 through these artists. In addition to works by Bacon and Freud, paintings by Michael Andrews, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff, and Paula Rego from the Tate in London will be on view.
Through more than 45 works, it is intended to provide a direct understanding of the fragile, excessive, unfiltered human condition that marked the revolutionary period of the London School.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Tate London.
